Light Bulb Moments!

This past Sunday, I woke up, slowly stretching my arms up to the sky, as I opened my eyes to and began my Litany of Thanks to the Lord for a wonderful much-needed rest, a cozy bed to sleep in, a roof over my head, family all around, and then, my granddaughter woke up, and said, “My throat feels like I am swallowing a pointy tortilla chip, and it’s stuck in the back of my throat!”

No problem, No fever, and I had my slow-cooker just finishing a 24-hour cycle making chicken bone broth.

Coincidence? Absolutely not!

Not with Jesus leading the way!Right? πŸ˜‰

Gave my granddaughter some remedies for her ailment, and she walked back to her house with her freshly washed and dried fluffy warm robe.

Called her Mama to let her know her youngest had a sore throat, but I was making soup, and she could stop by and pick it up in a few minutes.

I stripped the beds, tossed the sheets in the wash, folded the dish towels from the dryer, put them in the kitchen drawer, and remembered I needed to make soup. Opened the instant pot, and started an itemized list of canning things needed to can the bone broth, soooo, I  called my daughter back and asked if she could bring my canner she had borrowed, when she comes over to pick up the soup.

Oh Holy Heavens,

(Light Bulb Moment!),

The soup, I forgot to start boiling the noodles for the soup, grabbed the pan for the soup, set it on the stove, and remembered I needed to get the canning jars in the sink to clean/sanitize, and ran in the closet to get a box of jars. Minutes later my daughter walked through my patio door with my canner in hand as I came from the hall carrying the jars.

(Lightbulb Moment!)

We stopped in our tracks and started laughing just as it was clear I was ‘NOT’ tending to the promised soup. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

I quickly put the jars in the sink, squirted them with soap, and turned on the faucet, but not before I thought I should fill the canner up with water as it takes a bit to get it to boil. So I plugged in the electric canner, and stuck the faucet hose in the canner to fill.

Oh dear, another

(Light Bulb Moment!)

I grabbed the soup pan, filled it with bone broth, turned on the stove, sat it on the burner, poured some fresh bone broth and began the process of cooking the soup.

Oh Lord help me, another

(Light Bulb Moment!)

I remembered I left the water running into the canner. (WHEW!) My daughter, God bless her, ran around the counter to turn off the water.

I quickly dicing the vegies for the soup, and

(Light bulb Moment!)

The jars need hot water sterilization, so turned the kitchen faucet on hot water and let it run into the sink, as I turned back to put veggies in the now boiling bone broth.

As my daughter shared how her oldest daughter was getting along with her sore throat, she started chuckling, and asked me if I was planning on washing the floor.

As I focusing on the soup at the moment, I said, “Oh yes, right after I get broth in canner.”

(Light Bulb Moment!)

She said. ” Aahh Mom look as she pointed behind me, and said, “Well, you better turn the water off in the sink then.” πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

The soap bubbles were twice as high as the sink. We laughed so hard, as I handed her the pot of soup and told her she better get back home as she was distracting me. LOLOLOLOL!

I closed the patio door and went back to canning bone broth, but when I placed the jars in the canner, my berry bowl caught my eye, and

(Light Bulb Moment!)

I was in the garden picking a lot of blackberries. Made it back to the kitchen in time to hear the canning timer ringing, turned it off, and let the jars cool inside canner.

(Light Bulb Moment!)

My eye noticed my floor needed good mopping but wait another ( Light Bulb Moment!)

My eyes caught sight of the large bowl of blackberries sitting on the cutting board cleaned and ready for jam preserving.Β

Though a mop was leaning against a kitchen wall, I thought it best not to mop until after completing my canning the jam.

Aaahh, the wash machine rings, another (Light Bulb Moment!)

Laundry!

I run to get linens out and into dryer, put blankets in the washer, and no light bulb needed just a quick visit to the powder room, and then another:

(LIGHT BULB MOMENT!)

I am on a roll! LOL! I remembered I needed to get more toilet paper in each of the bathrooms.

Walked through kitchen, looking at the floor that needed cleaning, but caught sight of the large fresh blackberries in the bowl, which reminded me not to mop until I finished canning the berries and remembered to continue the walk to the back of the house to get toilet paper and restock the bathrooms.

Restocked the bathroom cupboards with toilet paper, walked back to kitchen, and yes you gets it another:

(LIGHT BULB MOMENT!)

Thought I should look up a quicker jam recipe, but saw the blog reminder, and this is how this post was created.

It’s not about how many times
we stray off a particular task,
but about being open to
the detours,
as well as taking a moment to
to be joyful with all we were able to accomplish each day
of our journey.

    1. Lolololol! I laugh so much at myself and my quirky way my mind works on ant given day. I used to mental chastise myself for not staying one task start to finish, but through life experiences and growing older, and holding on to Faith for dear life, I have arrived to where I am at today.πŸ˜‰
