To Gain More Knowledge…..

Never fear about asking to many questions.

Having a very large family on my Dad’s side, I witnessed Great; grandmas, aunts uncles, cousins, and their close friends, who passed away, beginning at five years old.

Just two weeks after my eighth birthday, my youngest baby sister passed away suddenly. She was barely four months old and happened to be one of the first babies in our town (1968) to have their cause of death labeled as Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). This was literally One (1) week after her 2nd “well baby” visit.

This was the hardest passing for me to understand, but one that was the catalyst to my not taking an answer to my question at face value.

I grew to learn that if an answer seems incomplete, or I sense someone is not comfortable or they give a quick/benign answer, more times than not, they very well are unsure of the answer they are giving, and need to continue my search for a more complete answer to my question/s.

I learned it doesn’t matter who they are or how many letters are behind their name, and have no problem not taking their answer as gospel because, after all, not everyone has all the answers, no matter how much education or on the job training one has under their belt for people become complacent. We are lulled into believing our schooling has given us all the knowledge we need, negating to delve into the plethora of new knowledge beyond the dates of our acquired learning, diplomas, credentials, licenses, and or certificates earned.

When I realized this about myself and how prevalent it is for many, my nervousness about asking one or too many questions fell by the wayside.

This knowledge has helped me throughout my life, especially when a loved one fell ill, or an accounting, cooking, construction, electrical, gardening, HVAC, landscaping,  or plumbing would arise as I stated no one has all the answers.

Except perhaps our elders, who learned early on to as questions .😉

By asking a question or a series of questions, we afford ourselves the ability to learn and gain more information.

To gain more knowledge we must;

Not be afraid to question,

Take time to discern,

Pray about the answers found,

Then move forward and make an informed decision.
