I cannot take any credit for this revelatory explanation for it came from the Homily aka Sermon given to us at our Saturday Vigil Mass, given by a dear friend and Dominican Itinerant Priest, Fr Jude Eli, who explained beautifully why adversity exists.
He explained how God allows adversity to come our way in order to help us change course, using it to call us to a deeper awareness of His ever-presence in our lives.
Though pain, sadness, sorrow and grief come with adversity, it is the movement through this process that He proves time and again, He is not sitting on the sidelines, but is sitting smack dap in the middle of it all, never leaving our side. Encouraging and showing us He is trustworthy. Adversity is indeed for our benefit in order to combat our proclivity toward selfishness.

Adversity calls us back to work on perfecting ourselves the best way we can. I describe it as an Art of a Continual Conversion, where we keep God in the forefront of all we think, say, and do, while we move forward on our journey Home.
Adversity is allowed, in order to call us back, so we might work on perfecting the Art of a Continual Conversion, where we keep God in the forefront of our mind, while stepping forward.
Embrace the call to change, for it is when we are brought to our knees, weak, broken and forlorn that Our Lord is pouring His Love, His Courage and His Strength over us, restoring us with Knowledge, Wisdom and Fortitude to share with others, who He will place in our path.
