Who says you cannot find great amazing and practical science experiment at home and help keep the family budget in check?
I do!
Our house was built by my parents in 1975, and has been a home and a refuge for five (5) generations.
We began homeschooling our youngest two in 2003, and continuing helping our grandchildren with the journey of homeschooling.
Three weeks ago, on one side of the house the commode pipes were not flushing and the shower and sinks in the garage, laundry room were backing up.
Eeeeew gross yes!
First thing I did was pray it was not going to cost an arm and a leg to fix, and kept praying until my handyman called me back or the plumber. Of course it happened on a weekend, but I was vigilant 🙏 🙏 🙏
First text came from my handyman yes he could come by that evening.
No word came from plumber.
Handyman worked for 4 hours going fromeach of the three places where one can access pipes from the outside.
Unfortunately for me, my youngest granddaughter has been learning to use the toilet, and as we had the regular Costco Kirkland Diaper Wipes, you can guess what was being used to clean her bum. But as I thought back of how many have been potty trained here throughout the years, and how many diaper wipes had been flushed throughout the years, and we had never had a back up. I found myself in grateful in a sense.
Our poor handyman did not have a cable long enough to fully clean out the pipes, so he had to return several days later, when he could rent a longer cable, which he did and so humble requested an extreme small fee for all his work.
Now not wanting to create a problem for future generations, I thought of ways to combat this issue. At the same time, I was putting the month’s curriculum together for my, while setting up the Life Science curriculum, I came up with:
