Throughout the centuries, it has been known a contemplative life carries with it a devotion to devoting ones life solely focused on praising the Lord with every move one makes, including rising in the wee hours of the night to sing the Lord’s praises, when most are sleeping, so as to make sure someone is praying 24/7.
I find that knowing someone is praising the Lord, when we are sleeping comforting.
When I was raising my babies, I began to understand why I loved the night so much. I knew from a very young age my calling in life was to be a wife and mother, and being given the Grace to be able to meet the needs of my babies every two to three hours for feedings through sickness and health, was truly a gift and an honor to be given the ability to meet their needs in the quiet of the night and wee hours of the morning. It was a time to praise the Lord for the Gift of being a wife and Mom.
Nowadays, I have been given the crowning glory of Motherhood by being allowed to praise the Lord through the night with my grandbabies. A gift I never knew would be even more joyous.
So once again, I have been given the calling to praise the Lord in the night.
So others may take comfort in knowing in my small way, I am here praying for Peace, while others are sleeping.
