When I Hear the old adage…

When I heard the old adage, “Life is short, you better enjoy it while your still young.”

I would think;

“How in the world am I going to enjoy life, if life’s so short?”

“If it’s short, How short is short?”

“What if I choose something to try and find I don’t like it the same time my time is up?”

I was always one to discern and question.

As I grew older and heard someone state this puzzling comment, the above questions would come swirling around like a tornado in my mind, and I’d think,

“Why would someone share such a thought. They certainly cannot think it is some pearl of Wisdom?”

As time moved on, and my beloved and myself found one another, and I heard that Ole adage again,

“Life is short, you better enjoy it while you are young!”

I noticed my thoughts changed

and became:

“I found my soulmate. You better bet your bottom dollars I will enjoy the time I have no matter how short.”

“Indeed, I have found my calling in this life, and I am going to embrace whatever God has in store!”

As I heard wise a elderly couple share with my little granddaughters after Church the other day, ” Life is short, enjoy it while you are young.”

Memories of my life began to fill my mind. Happiness, lose, good times, hard times and I began to understand what that old adage really means.

I find my heart full of gratitude. I smile, thinking of my small self, with the overwhelming concerning questions has now matured enough to see the gifts God has blessed her with. The precious gifts of two faith-filled, God Loving parents, a devoted, loving husband, six smart, witty children, amazing in-laws and beautiful grandchildren, who are all apart of my short life thus far. All of them, through all the ups and downs, I am coming to understand how special life is, and no matter how much time, we are given, every minute, is a moment in time, we are given the ability to enjoy each second we are here on this earth.

So enjoy every bit of it.
