From sundown on Saturday to Sundown on Sunday, my parents worked hard to dedicate this day as a day for enjoying family, reconnecting and a day of rest. Every week of my life thus far, I have looked at this day as a day to renew, and begin again. Thus us not to say we had our struggles and fits of unrest getting to that point each week, we did! Like clockwork, someone would loose their Sunday shoes, lost a sock, couldn’t find their coat or were slow to eat their cereal. Looking back on it, I am sure we were a sight running put to the car at the last minute to get to Church in time, just as one if my younger siblings needed a diaper change or last visit to the bathroom. Mom called these moments to be mindful not to let the devil get the better of us, and shut the door to his getting ahold of our toe.
I find being an empty nester, I have time to remember the chaos and the forgiveness with a smile and a chuckle and the blessed time I was given with my parents and my own family as we were given yet another Sunday to navigate toward Placing Our Lord front and center of the Day we set aside to Glorify Him.
Asking forgiveness is hard, but the relief it brings is always like a warm blanket being wrapped around your soul.
Make time to take a step back and enjoy the day of the Lord!
