Pray First+

Whenever someone would say to me, when little, “When all else fails, pray.” Coming from two parents who grow with us in Faith, this statement always puzzled me as, Mom taught us to “Pray First!” and Dad would say, ” the only dumb question is the one not asked.”

Needless to say, I never took the answer, “Just because!”, Because I said so!” “I don’t know!” or, “No!” As a finally answer, as frankly my elders were supposed to be wiser than ourselves, when growing up, and if they didn’t know, why wouldn’t it move them to find the answer to which they did not know. Needless to say, I drove my parents nuts at how inquisitive I was, and drove some of my school teachers up the wall.

When young, and someone would state, ” Well if all else fails pray.” I would incision question marks hovering over my head as questions formed in my mind. Questions like, “What happened to pray first?” “Why try to do it yourself first?” “Don’t the believe God knows and sees all? “Why are they doing it backwards?”

Perhaps, it is why I have been place in this time and place in history to pray first, ask the questions, until I get a concrete answer, and be ready to help others Go to God first, and research. Take nothing at face value. For God is straightforward, His Adversary is as crooked as they come.
