When I was 19 months, I became a sister. I caring for my baby doll as my Mom took care of my sister. Mom would explain what she was doing, and why she was doing it, and I would mimick my Mom every step of the way. Only a few times my day caught me. When I was very tired, I’d resort to dragging my dolly by her foot. My Dad was hilarious, rushing in and gently cradling my dolly in his arms. He would explain again to me how to care for my baby.
As far back as I could remember, I knew I was meant to be a wife and a Mother and was so honored to have been given both positions for so long in my life. While caring for my family, I would watch my parents relish their new position as grandparents, dreaming of one day become a grandmother.
Today, it was looking like it was going to be a straightforward day, then my daughter in law and son asked if I could watch their new little one in the afternoon. In a matter of seconds, my straightforward day was anything but pure joy. So very grateful for the extraordinary day with my little granddaughter, and so very honored to have been able to be here for all three of them.
Thank you Jesus for this afternoon blessing.
