Every year in America without fail, mothers, grandmothers, aunts begin planningand preparing for Thanksgiving Dinner at the beginning of November. It is a chance for family and friends to share a meal. For Moms, its a time to bring everyone together. College children come home, brothers and sisters and families gather at one or the others parents home to reconnect, all the while the prepare of the feast is in prayer all will go well and everyone well enjoy themselves, and everyone will be grateful they are together, and all petty disputes laid at the door.
The enjoyment the chef has in preparing the meal is indeed mixed with a battle of praying for a wonderful dinner at the same time warding of the stress of concern some will not be able to keep their unresolved petty squabbles from bubbling forth before the bird is carved.
There is a contemporary Christian song from 1986 that floats in my mind around this time of year called Give Thanks By Don Monroe that has the gift of moving my heart so much, I cannot help but be overwhelmed with gratitude for all the love I have been given throughout my life, and for the gift of my children, God saw fit to encourage them to be close during this past six years.
Look for things to be grateful for, and praise the Lord. For when we look for things to be thankful for, we recognize the miracles we are being blessed with.
